If you are from the Durham/Newcastle area you will be more than familiar with Van Mildert, if you've ever been on a night out you will again be familiar with it as Jimmy Allens is situated right between the men and women's stores. Van Mildert was established in 1996 and is instantly known as the place to buy high end designer items without having to order off line and travel far. If I'm shopping in Durham I always end up in Van Mildert.

Van Mildert stocks just about every brand you can think of- from the high end designers such as Vivienne Westwood, See by Chloe, Project D to more high street friendly prices of French Connection and Vera Moda, as well as unknown brands. Personally what I love Van Mildert for is their sales- seriously there is a sale and then there's the Van Mildert sale. Now I know what you're thinking, however Van Mildert also have their own website so you too can get in on the sale action.

I thought I would share with you my current favourite picks from their summer sale just to show you all how much money you can save- I'm going into town on my lunch today to see if they have the Marc by Marc Jacobs tee and French Connection dress in stock- I've been after this dress for ages. By shopping the sales and being savvy it just shows you that you can afford key designer pieces for a fraction of the designer price tag- just look at the By Malene Birger breton dress, breton never goes out of fashion, and for near enough £50 its not that much more than what you would spend in Topshop on a similiar dress. I know what I would rather spend my money on- designer all the way.

Van Mildert have what I can their flagship stores in Durham on Elvet Bridge, they also have stores in Darlington, and the Metro Centre, and you can also shop online.
