So if you are a familiar reader of the blog you will realise that not so long ago I did a monthly series of posts called “RayBox” which focused on which full sized products you can buy for the price you pay for a monthly beauty box. Now when I was doing the RayBox posts I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t think the beauty boxes were up to par. However Tor was running a competition on her blog from JolieBox to win one of their birthday boxes and I won. The box itself I’m assuming was the French version (even though it’s the same company) and I have to admit the standard of products which were in this box were excellent- all good quality high end products.

So I’ve decided to jump back on the beauty box bandwagon with JolieBox*, however I’ve decided to take a bit of a different stance on it- whether I would buy the product regardless of it being in the box and whether I think that month’s box is worth the subscription fee. As September is the major fashion month in the year JolieBox has focused on London Fashion Week and is targeted to cheer us up from the post summer blues.

Dr Bragi- Bio Marine Exfoliant (x2)- Both sachets were used for one facial exfoliation and to be honest it wasn’t gritty enough for me, but it did an alright job. I prefer tube samples of exfoliators so you can measure how much you want. You can pick up similar on beauty counters, but they always come in handy for travelling. (Samples)

Balmi Lip Balm (mint)- this for me is definitely the highlight of the box. You will have seen these dotted around on people’s blogs as they’ve just launched in Boots. I’ve been meaning to pick one of these however as I’ve got too many lip products on the go at the moment (look out for a future post) I thought I would wait. The lip balm is the UK version of the EOS lipbalms and contains SPF 15 (always important in a lip balm). It’s not overly minty, nor has the artificial mint flavour you find with some products. Star product of the box for me. (Full size)

I Love…Face Mask (Coconut)- not really a fan of coconut face products, however it’s a good facemask- really hydrated my skin. Would definitely pick other facemasks up from the range, just not the coconut. (Full size)

Redken Align 12 Protective Straightening Lotion- Really happy to see a Redken product in the box, as this is a brand I’ve wanted to try for a very long time, yet always been unsure of what products to buy from the range. This is a generous sample and would be ideal for travelling- I’ve only used this once on my hair and it definitely cut the drying time down and my hair has a real nice shine to it. Would definitely consider buying a full sized bottle. (Sample size)

Twistband Hair Tie- really not sure what to make about these if I am honest with you, as its an item I wouldn’t even consider buying. They’re not very pleasing on the eye and I wouldn’t wear them in my hair out the house. I do appreciate that these type of hair bobbles are good on the hair and prevent snapping etc, however they just look really strange. (Full size)

Overall I’m really happy with my first JolieBox and would say that due to the Redken and Balmi products this is definitely worth the cost. More info subscribing to JolieBox can be found here.

What do you make of this month’s box?
