Barry M Block Orange - £3.99

Why do things always look better in magazines? Looking through fashion and beauty websites orange nails on celebs and models always look amazing. Not the case on me though, even though the above swatches suggest otherwise. I’d picked this Barry M colour up long before they’d introduced Tangerine and the Gelly polish in Mango and if I’m honest I wish I’d waited and purchased the Gelly polish instead.

Like all Barry M polishes the formula and consistency is second to none, however three coats are required on your nails for full coverage. It’s worth noting that in the swatches above I’ve used two coats as the nail wheel colour is an off white. I wouldn’t really call this a block orange as on my nails its leans more towards the red-orange shade, yet looking at swatches of Barry M Tangerine, I’d say that’s more of a true orange. I’ve tried my hardest to like this shade, however I just can’t – it lasts well on the nails before chipping, you don’t need a top coat as it’s quite shiny. I’ve even tried using this on my toe nails to see if I like it anymore, however it makes it look even more discoloured. I do like orange nails and have got some Essie orange nail posts coming in the near future, however I think this shade will be getting passed over to one of my friends instead.
