Essie Ballet Slippers - £7.99 Boots/Superdrug

Even though Essie is my nail polish brand of choice, which 99% of the time can do no wrong in my eyes, however once in a while a polish comes along which doesn’t live up to expectations. The nail polish in question – Essie’s cult shade Ballet Slippers. Luckily I didn’t pay full price for this – I either paid £1.99 from Fragrance Direct or it came in a 4 pack from TK Maxx, however I’m glad I didn’t pay £7.99 for this.

Many say that this is your nails but better shade, however that’s if you can master the application. On the swatches above there is two coats, yet I think the fact that these nail wheels are white, kinda covers up this snag. Unlike other Essie polishes I’ve found that this is far more watery in consistency and is very prone to streaking. Normally if I wear this it takes at least 3-4 coats to build up, but the downside is it chips like no other – doesn’t even last a few hours.Colour wise Ballet Slippers is a sheer, pale milky pink (if you wear 1-2 coats) and appears to be universally flattering to all skin tones. Obviously that’s if you overlook the streaks and chips. Would I recommend? Nope – personally I would suggest Models Own Utopia or Essie’s Not Just A Pretty Face.
