If you need a little help with your eyesight and prefer to wear glasses instead of contact lenses, you will know all about the importance of choosing stylish frames. Of course, this is something that people with 20/20 vision only need to worry about in the summer when it comes to picking out their sunglasses. Either way, it seems like a good time to think about eyewear in a little more detail - after all, sunnier and warmer days are hopefully just around the corner.

I’ve been looking at a few options online that I think will be popular this summer - this includes frames with both prescription and basic lenses. I’d love to know what frames you would pick if money was no object, but the ideas below will hopefully provide you with the inspiration you need to get your summer style sorted...

Sunglasses: my top picks
Ray-Ban ® 2132 Tortoise - Described online as “gorgeous tortoiseshell style frames”, these sunglasses are bang on trend for 2014 whilst also looking classic enough to last well into the future (assuming you don’t lose them when you are on holiday). They retail for £90 at Tesco Opticians, which is a reasonable amount to spend on something that can be worn in many ways throughout the season. These would look great with a bikini and flip-flops, or an elegant summer dress with a pair of sleek open-toe pumps. Can’t you just picture wearing these with a neck scarf as you are whisked through the Italian countryside in the passenger seat of a convertible?

Lipsy Sun 36 in SilverIf you prefer an aviator style frame, you could look at these sunglasses from Lipsy. They would be very easy to wear and have a more relaxed style association. This makes them perfect for lounging on the beach or doing a bit of shopping in your holiday resort. These are £30 online at Tesco Opticians, and the price means they could also be ideal to bring along to a summer festival if you don’t want to risk losing your more expensive frames.

Prescription glasses: my top picks
Emporio Armani 9672 - Fashionistas will be flocking to these Emporio Armani frames as they are so fun for the summer months. Thick black rimmed glasses have been popular over the past couple of years, but purple makes a welcome change for those of us who have to wear prescription glasses. Bold frames such as this can really make a statement, as well as retaining a sophisticated look for when you are at work or out at a posh restaurant. These glasses cost £115 at Tesco Opticians.

Lipsy 32 in Black and CreamSometimes it is nice to go monochrome, especially if you want your outfit to do the talking. That is why these Lipsy glasses could be the perfect choice - they would look stunning with a wide brimmed hat and a classy one-piece swimsuit. They really would be easy to pair with most things in your wardrobe, whether a floaty dress or some denim shorts and a vest top. And for £85, they aren’t unreachable when it comes to their price tag.
