Can 2014 just slow itself down, can you believe we're nearly half way through August. Anyway this month I've been discovering some old favourites as well as some brand spanking new products. So what have I been loving this month?
First up is MUA's Heaven and Earth Palette which I normally wear for work as I'm finally back in the habit of wearing make up for work. Can you take a random guess as to which shadows I've been reaching for? I had totally forgotten how much of a gem of a palette this actually is, even though I have the habit of always reaching for the same two shadows on a morning - blended together with a Mac 217 brush, add some mascara and I look half awake for work. Normally by the end of the day (well after a gym session) there is very little of this eye shadow left, however for £4 this is a brilliant palette and definitely worth buying.
While we're on the subject of eye shadow I've been loving Barbara Daly's Longwear Shadow Sticks, especially the shade Shimmer Sand. This colour reminds me of Mac All that Glitters, but a more creamier version and for £3 is a fraction of the cost of a Mac eye shadow. I've got a more in depth review of this coming shortly, however what I would say is that you need to work very fast with these as they do have the habit of drying very quickly.
Shall we keep up with the eye area theme? I have a love hate relationship with brow brushes, I'll find one I like, use it for weeks and then decide I hate it and won't have anything to do with it any more. Elf Studio Angled Brush I have had now for about three years and I always come running back to using it. The handle comes off like no-ones business however as the bristles are short and dense, no other eye brow brush comes close to this. It may be time to invest in another one, however I know I'll end up using the original. As for lips I've been using NYX Xtreme Shine Lip Cream in 10 Natural - if Mac Hue and Shy Girl had a baby in a liquid lipstick this would be it. Word of warning, make sure your lips are in decent condition as any bit of dry skin will be noticeable.
Last two favourites are new products which I've been testing and have reviewed within the last week. First up is Redken Color Extend Magnetics shampoo*, as I've had my hair done this weekend and may have dabbled a bit in the balayge ombre I'm looking forward to seeing how this will work on freshly coloured hair. You can read more about this in my review here, but its a winner. Finally but by no means least is the first tan I've reviewed in my summer tanning series and that is Famous Dave's Spray Tan in Medium to Dark* - fab natural tan for nights out and is work appropriate . Again I've done a full review of this here, but it is another winner for me.
