Models Own Utopia // Essie Sole Mate // Barry M Gelly Passion Fruit // Essie Maximillian Strasse-Her // OPI Lincoln Park After Dark
Happy Christmas Eve Eve. Now I was going to post this on Saturday, however after one to many on Friday night, I was nursing a bad head and no posts were published. In the midst of all Christmas related activities, I thought I would share with you my favourite nail polishes which are ideal for last minute nights out, the big day itself and even New Years Eve. I feel like I’m cheating this a bit as I currently have shellac on my nails, however I’m actually in two minds to soak this off tomorrow night and paint my nails. Anyway I’m digressing.
For me, the perfect festive nail polish, is a polish which will go with (just about) every possible outfit. However it’s a bonus if it doesn’t chip while opening your presents. Normally I would have said that my all-time favourite festive nail polish, well actually it’s of all time is OPI Lincoln Park After Dark. This is a dark purple/almost black shade which looks equally as good on your finger and toe nails. If you’re after more of a red/berry/wine dark shade – look no further than Essie Sole Mate. Apply one thick coat to see more of the red/berry, then two to three coats for a similar shade to that of LPAD.
If you’re more about the neutral shades – Models Own Utopia is a milky off white and looks amazing with a coat of Seche Veite. Plus you could call this the ultimate lazy girls polish – one thick coat and jobs a good un. If you fancy something a bit different, Essie’s Maximillian Strasse-Her could be right up your street. Now I know in my initial review I raved about this on my fingers, however I’ve constantly been wearing this on my toes.
Last but no means least, you can’t do festive nails without your typical red polish and for me it has to be Barry M’s Bright Red, or their Gelly Hi-Shine polish in Passion Fruit. As much as I love this polish, having red shellac a few weeks ago has really sickened me off wearing red polish at the moment. However if I wanted a vivid red polish this is the one I would go for.
