Models Own In The Navy - £4.99
As the annual Models Own sale is currently live and as tempted as I am to place an order, I thought for today's post I would revisit one of the polishes I bought last year to perhaps give you some inspiration on what to buy and maybe avoid. Nothing like being an enabler, when I'm not buying anything. I've been after a dark navy shade to add to my collection for a while and I did think that in the navy could be the missing piece. Unfortunately I'm not feeling this polish.
One thing which I normally can't fault with Models Own shades is their formula, quick drying and normally opaque after one coat (two coats max). As you can see from the swatches above, especially the one on the left of the photo the polish is rather opaque and patchy. I would say that the formula is slightly thinner than what I'm used to from Models Own and obviously to overcome this you would build up the layers. Apart from that the staying power (minus a top coat) is a good 3-4 days before any sign of tip wear.
If I'd seen these swatches I wouldn't have purchased this polish if I'm honest with you - its not my colour or a shade which I would normally wear. Personally I would call this more of an ink blue - someone at work called it bic biro blue and they've hit the nail on the head. If you are a fan of blue polishes you probably will love this and if you manage to get it in the sale for £2.50 you can't be robbed. However if you are looking for a more darker navy, I wouldn't buy this. If you have any dark navy recommendations let me know.
