Tom Ford Velvet Orchid Eau De Parfum - £57 (Biza Duty Free)
As soon as the initial reviews for Tom Ford's latest fragrance Velvet Orchid started popping up on the internet, I knew I had to make a quick dash to my local department store to see what the fuss was about and this fragrance definitely lives up to the hype. Luckily for me, one of my friends was going on holiday and kindly picked up a 50ml bottle of this for me from duty free (hence the cheaper price). Now I only have one gripe about this, and this is the only negative thing, so I thought I would get it out the way - staying power, nor strength is as strong as Black Orchid.
Right now that's out of the way, I can begin to fan girl - to be this is the sister, daytime version of Black Orchid. Strong enough to last during the day, but a scent which doesn't quite last a night out,if that makes sense. The scent itself leans more towards a floral perfume, due to its notes of notes of bergamot, mandarin, and honey. However it still has the musky undertones which you come to associate with Black Orchid, and what makes the two fragrances similar, yet oh so different.
Any Black Orchid lover will love this perfume, however if you thought that Black Orchid was a bit too over powering and strong, I'd definitely suggest giving this a squirt (sounds wrong) next time you're out shopping. Obviously with all Tom Ford products comes the hefty price tag, however if you can get someone to get you it from Duty Free you will be saving quite a few pounds and the damage to your bank account doesn't seem that much. Question of the day - Black Orchid or Velvet Orchid? I'm sat on the fence.
