Nails Inc Richmond Terrace // Rimmel Rapid Ruby // Bourjois Rouge Obscur // Essie Sole Mate // Nails Inc Great Marlborough Street
Ahhhh Autumn is by far my favourite time of the year and there's no excuse not to crack the berry nail shades out. I also appreciate that I've used Fall in the title of this post - it sounds better than Autumn don't you think? Anyway as I'm now officially out of my nail painting hiatus and is currently rocking a dark berry gel polish which is very similar to the Nails Inc Great Marlborough Street or one of my all time favourites OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark. Personally I think dark nails look fab on either your fingers or toes and for me the darker the better. However hopefully the picks which I have chosen today will appeal to everyone.
On the picture above Nails Inc Richmond Terrace, Rimmel's Rapid Ruby and Bourjois Rouge Obscur practically all look the same, but in real life they look completely different. Richmond Terrace is more of a plum based red, but is more red rather than plum. Rapid Ruby is more of a wine based red - not so much like the gemstone, but more like a glass of the old red (random fact - red wine makes me go crazy, hence why I avoid it like the plague). Rouge Obscur is more of a purple based red - not as dark as the polishes next to it, however in some lights it looks more burgundy. Out of the polishes mentioned so far, by far this is my favourite polish texture - one coat for a full opaqueness and due to the gel formulation, it looks like you've had your nails professionally done.
Finally my two favourites, Essie Sole Mate which I've previously reviewed on here (link). In some lights it looks black, other lights it looks a deep plum shade. Out of all the polishes in this post, hands down this has to be my favourite. There's just something about this shade which to me screams dark nights - this is the colour which you will no doubt find on my nails until the New Year. Finally if you are looking for an affordable dupe to OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark, look no further than Nails Inc Great Marlborough Street. To the eye it looks black, until the light reflects off it and you can see the deep purple undertones. Seriously it's love. With all of these polishes I like to use Seche Vite to make the polish last and also look like a gel manicure. Are you a fan of the berry polish?
