Whiter teeth is always one thing I want, the whiter the better - think Ross off Friends white. However as much of a fan of Crest Whitening Strips, they're quite expensive and a pain to try and find a good deal from eBay. Since November I've been oil pulling with coconut oil as a natural alternative to getting white teeth and as much as this technique sounds like a gimmick, it bloody works.

Oil pulling is an ancient technique which involves swilling a teaspoon of coconut oil around your mouth. This in turn draws out toxins in your body and can result in whiter teeth, better breath and improved skin tone. Personally I take a teaspoon (or less) and put it in the microwave for 20-30 seconds and then pour it into my mouth and start to swill. I won't lie at times I do gag while doing this as the texture in your mouth feels weird. I normally do this for 20 minutes and end up writing a blog post (currently swilling like a good un here) or watch some YouTube videos and before you know the 20 mins is done.

Personally I don't spit this down my drains, purely as a family friend ended up blocking her drains by doing this, all what I do is spit the oil into a cup which gets thrown out after a few days, or empty candle jars work as well too. I know that sounds minging, however I prefer to do this than have to pay hundreds of pounds to get my drains unblocked.

After oil pulling I always brush my teeth and I've been reaching for Pearl Drops Specialist White toothpaste, to give my teeth an extra whitening boost. This technique really has worked wonders on my teeth and people are commenting on how white they are. Normally I try to do this a few times a week and the more you do it, the better the results are. Prior to buying my tub of The Groovy Food Company Coconut Oil, I was using Vita Coco which a small jar lasted up until the new year. The only reason I've got this large jar is that I'm currently doing Lean in 15 and I'm also using this to cook with. Any coconut oil will work for this. Are you a fan of oil pulling?
