It appears that good old Duzza (Durham) is becoming quite the place now for new indie restaurants and is a welcome addition to the city. There's been quite the hype lately on my social media about Flat White Cafe and more recently about the opening of Flat White Kitchen. Obviously I don't need any encouragement to go for food, so when Tor asked if I fancied a trip into Durham - there was only one place we were going to for brunch.

Like many of the restaurants on Saddler Street, Flat White Kitchen is on the small side, however what they lack in size they definitely make up for in their atmosphere and food. Luckily for us, the restaurant was busy, but not too busy when we went and we didn't mind sharing a table with another couple. Personally I love the fact that their menu is compact and you're not spoiled for choice. I went for the avocado and feta on toasted sourdough with two poached eggs, whereas Tor went for the ricotta pancakes with fruit.

Regardless of how Instagram worthy the food is, hands down that had to be the best avocado and poached eggs I've ever had. The staff who work there are clearly passionate about their jobs and constantly come over to ask if everything is alright, and even move things so you can get that perfect photo for your social media. If you are ever in Durham, you need to go here for food. I'll definitely be back.
