Since the start of the New Year, I've been trying to make more of an effort in streamlining everything and minimising junk and items which I no longer use. This week while I'm off work I'm tackling my skincare and my wardrobes. I'm not going to give you an update on Lent until later in the week, but if you've seen my facebook post, you know how that has gone.
Before I bought my house, I'd happily admit that I would spend far too much money on make up and would always buy into blogger hype. These days I feel like my purchases are more thought through and I purchase items which I want and which I know I will use. Don't get me wrong I still do like the occasional splurge, however that is 99.9% of the time reserved for Sephora and American Drugstore hauls.
I've made it my mission to constantly go through my make up collection and if there are opened products which I haven't used in 6 months they get donated to friends and family. Once upon a time I would make excuses to hold onto products (take for example the MAC MSFN in Medium Dark - no idea why I bought it or why I wanted to keep it). I have kept three make up items purely for sentimental reasons, however I do think they won't survive the next cull. There are a few items I initially kept for comparison posts, yet as I never got around to photographing them, they got binned.
I've actually surprised myself at how much I have downgraded my make up and I know that I can get rid of more products. Lets just hope I can keep this momentum up when it comes to getting rid of my skincare and clothes as I know that's going to be a killer for me. Hopefully this has inspired you to take a look at things around you and get rid of things - it could even be people if you want haha.
